Siphesile and Khawulani, two of Joyce Mbele's children, watch their mother's funeral, in the Drakensberg mountains near Loksop. Children are often left out both physically and emotionally from family funerals, and are left alone by adults to cope with the trauma of a parent's death. Their elder sister Lihle is now head of the household, responsible for her two brothers, four cousins and her aunt who is too weak from Aids and TB to look after her own children.
