A Fulani (Peul) nomad family on the move, the women and children riding donkeys, crossing the desert in western Mali. Each year Fulani (Peul) nomads take their herds on a journey from Mauritania through Mali and into Niger in search of food and water for their animals. This is an ancient tradition and a way of life that is still practiced today. Not only do the herders face long trips and extreme weather conditions, but in recent years there has been an increase in clashes with farmers who don't want them crossing their fields.
