Tuvaluan children play in Vaiea village, Niue. Up to 100 Tuvaluans came across the Pacific to Niue. Many of them call themselves 'climate change refugees'. Overcrowding and threats causing by climate change have become a major push factor for Tuvaluans. Many Tuvaluans, who have settled in Niue, consider the resettlement program successful and there has been dialogue on the possibility of settling more Tuvaluan refugees in Niue, which has a declining population.
