A bridge over the river Danube. The river divides the city of Belgrade into two halves, the more historic, old part of the city, and the area known as New Belgrade, where most of the city's inhabitants live in grey, soulless high rise apartment blocks. It is in these blocks that it is believed former Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic has been hiding since 2002 when the Serbian military stopped protecting him and forced him to leave the Topcider barracks in Belgrade. Mladic is one of the most sought after suspects from the Bosnia conflict. He has been indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
