The remains of a clock, in the Atomic Bomb Museum, stopped at 11.02am. This was the time, on 9 August 1945, when a second atomic bomb, nicknamed 'Fat Man', was detonated 500 metres above the city, instantly killing 74,000 people and destroying 30% of the city. It followed the smaller but even more devasting Hiroshima bomb, 'Little Boy', that had been dropped on 6 August 1945. /Felix Features
