Men gather in a local chai (tea) shop in the Old City of Lahore to socialise and watch Hindi and English films. In Lahore there are many such venues that cater to working class and homeless people. The popularity of these places is in stark contrast to the small crowds that can be found at the local cinemas. The Pakistan film industry is on the brink of extinction as the market for Punjabi, Urdu and Pashto films has dwindled in recent years due to growing accessibility of Hollywood and Bollywood films via cable television.
