Beehives in a clearing in the Tobe protected forest. Some 350 hectares in area, the forest had been severely degraded by agriculture. Over the last 35 years it has been restored thanks to a partnership between the land-owning families and Karin Ostertag, a Swiss artist who made the area her home. Honey production is being developed to provide residents of the area with an additional income stream and further reduce pressure on the forest.
