The lift operator at the Stan Terg lead and zinc mine. There are twelve levels to the mine, which descends approximately 800 metres below the surface. The Trepca mine complex is often spoken of as Kosovo's economic powerhouse, but the company is saddled with debt. It also has an ageing workforce. When the Trepca miners stood up to the Yugoslav government in the late 1980s, they were sacked, and only reinstated after the war in 1999.
