A woman waiting for an examination at the government hospital Gandhi Memorial in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. For a C-Section in a private clinic, patients have to pay 10 000 Birr (around 450 Euro), unaffordable for most patients. As the government hospital provides care almost free, the demand is too high for the resources available. A quarter of all women have to be turned away, they often have no other choice than to return home and hope for the best.
