What was once a forest has dwindled to a grove of less than 1ha, which local NGO ODDB (Organisation pour le Developpement Durable et la Biodiversite/ Organisation for Sustainable Development and Biodiversity), the organiser of the survey, is working with villagers to protect and restore. Though small, the grove is home to a colony of endangered bats.
