51 year old Shelta has been the victim of political violence due to her opposition to the ruling Zanu PF. Violence was often neighbour on neighbour. Shelta says, "2008 was a difficult year for me. It was one disaster after another." She recalls the eve of the Presidential run off election, "On 26 June, Zanu PF supporters came to my house and stuck ZPF posters there. They chased us away and I got hurt. My leg still hasn't recovered." When I came back I saw they had put more posters in my house, stolen my vegetables. They were looking for me and my child." A neighbour - who supports Zanu PF - found her son later at the shops and threatened to beat him. She says, "What they did hurt me very much and I don't know how we can continue to be neighbours having that history. I do not know what I can do about it. Even today they do not talk to me."
