The district of Page Hall in Sheffield has been described by the national media as a hotbed of tension between the Slovak Roma community, many of whom are newly arrived in the UK, and the Pakistani community, who have been in the UK for much longer. In reality there are some Roma who have lived in the area for a number of years. Many more considered commentators blame tensions on the cultural misunderstandings combined with the area's social deprivation and unemployment.
