Dr. Ridha Kouki, 51, administers an exchange blood transfusion to a teenage patient who suffers from sickle cell disease. Every three weeks the patient travels approximately 100km from her home to the National Bone Marrow Transplant Centre for the transfusion that greatly reduces the risk of a potentially life-threatening cerebrovascular accident (stroke) and allows her to live a normal life.
