Bryan M (21) at a barber near the call centre he works at in central Mexico City. Born in Mexico, he moved with his family to the US when he was three years old, and stayed until he was 16, when he was deported together with his father. Upon returning his father was kidnapped and 'disappeared' by a gang but released several months after. Similar to other deportees, he highglights the struggles to settle again in Mexico, a country he barely knew, and adapt to the lifestyle and culture. He says he was often harrassed and picked on by the residents in the neighbourhood he settled in or at school due to his different looks and for having been deported. He is currently studying to be a lawyer and works at the call centre, which also employs a large number of deportees and returnees as they speak perfect English.
