The wife of Ntete ole Kushuni, a prominent Maasai (Masai) herdsman, tends to her husband's camels. With the help of Practical Action, an NGO, camels have been introduced to the semi-nomadic Maasai community in the Great Rift Valley in response to the long periods of drought that have killed many of the Maasai's domestic animals in recent years. It is hoped that the camels, which are more resilient than the Maasai's traditional livestock and able to survive in harsh dry conditions, will help the Maasai people to adapt to the climate change.
