A child looks at dead bodies through a razor wire fence in the Kibeho camp. Over 4,000 Hutus were killed on 22/04/1995 during an operation by the Tutsi Rwandan army to clear the Kibeho refugee camp. The tragedy occurred after the army opened fire on the crowd of 100,000 refugees who had been crammed into a small area in the middle of the camp. The crowd panicked and tried to run, crushing thousands in the melee. Many more were shot and macheted by the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA). The tragedy left over 1000 children orphaned.
