Rioting and looting followed the election of Snyder Rini as Prime Minister, with the Chinese community targeted due to allegations of corruption. 90% of Chinatown was destroyed. Rini was forced to resign after just a week in office. RAMSI, the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands, is led by troops from Australia and New Zealand.
