A group of Syrian refugees celebrate their rescue aboard a ferry to mainland Greece after having arrived by inflatable boat on the island of Lesbos having crossed the straits from Turkey. <br />
The boat is carrying a number of refugees who landed on inflatable boats from Turkey and are being taken to mainland Greece. Every day hundreds of refugees, mainly from Syria and Afghanistan, are crossing in small overcrowded inflatable boats the six mile channel from the Turkish coast to the island of Lesbos in Greece. Many spend their life savings, over $1,000, to buy a space on these boats.
