Aggregates being prepared on site where the Lake Turkana Wind Project are building concrete foundations for 365 wind turbines. From mid 2017 the planned turbines will generate about 300 MW for the Kenyan power grid. However, in the dry and sparsely populated area where the turbines will be built, tensions between pastoralist communities are running high as each indigenous group (Turkana, Samburu, Rendile) lay claim to the promised compensation.
