Yamba (12) (left) with colleagues at the Wend-Panga garage where he has been an apprentice mechanic since October 2020. His family fell into poverty due to the economic crisis linked to COVID-19 and could not send all of their children to school. Yamba, who is quick-witted and very intelligent but slightly deaf, was taken out of school by his father and sent to work as an apprentice mechanic. Children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable children to drop out of school.
