©Paul Lowe/Panos Pictures..Kibeho Camp RWANDA 22/4/1995..A Zambian UN soldier walks through the scene of death and destruction following the killings and stampede in Kibeho camp..Over 4000 Hutus were killed during an operation by the Tutsi Rwandan army to clear the Kibeho refugee camp. The tragedy occurred after the army opened fire on the crowd of 100,000 refugees who had been crammed into a small area in the middle of the camp.  The crowd panicked and tried to run, crushing thousands in the melee. Many more were shot and macheted by the RPA. The tragedy left over 1000 children orphaned.
