Buck Dawson (born 1920), an American veteran of World War II (WW2).."After the war came the release. We met the Russians near the Elbe in Germany. But they had already got drunk on vodka before we arrived. They were a rough bunch, those Russians, but really they weren't all that different from us. We also wanted to show what tough guys we were. One of us was going to show the Russians how to parachute. He jumped from the third floor of the headquarters and broke his ankle." ."During the celebrations, they were firing live ammunition. It was like the wild west. A Russian truck drove down the hill and tipped over. Someone ended up underneath it, seriously injured, but the Russians weren't that bothered. Life wasn't worth much to them, or maybe it was just because everyone was drunk."... CHECK with MRM/FNA
