The leadership of the Khmer Rouge Santebal secret police which presided over the S-21 detention centre at Tuol Sleng, where over 16,000 people were killed between 1975 and 1979. Second from right in the back row is Comrade Duch (real name Kaing Guek Eav) who was the commandant of the prison. Photographer Nic Dunlop unearthed Duch working with the American Refugee Committee in 1999. He is currently awaiting trial. On the left in the back row is Comrade Chan, the chief interrogator, who now lives in the west of Cambodia.
