50 year old Subulu Munduya sits with his bow and arrow inside his hut in Balighato village of Kalinganagar industrial area in Orissa. On 2 January 2006, the police in Kalinganagar opened fire on a group of tribals protesting against Tata's constructon of a steel plant on their land without having paid them adequate compensation. The killing of 12 villagers, including Subulu's brother Rangal, shocked the whole nation and all but paralysed the state government over the land issue. Armed with bows and arrows, the villagers from Balighato village of Kalinganagar keep a tight vigil at the entrance of their village to stop company officials or police entering their land.
