18-year-old elephant Pho Khwar and his mahout Kalu Say who is also 18 are seen traditionally dressed as they are hired by a Burmese family to perform at the ceremony of their children becoming novice monks. The domestic-born elephant Pho Khwar worked at a logging camp for a few years before becoming an entertainment elephant earning on average 500000 Kyats per day for his owners by performing at events and Buddhist ceremonies. His mahout Kalu Say earns 5000 Kyats per day.
