The body of a man who died in the earthquake and Tsunami that struck Northern Honshu is carried up a railway embankment in the destroyed town of Kesennuma by soldiers of the Japan Self Defence Forces (JSDF) after having been recovered from a destroyed house in the town. On 11 March 2011 a magnitude 9 earthquake struck 130 km off the coast of Northern Japan causing a massive Tsunami that swept across the coast of Northern Honshu. The earthquake and tsunami caused extensive damage and loss of life.
