Heavy traffic pours through Porong village, which has become the main road between Surabaya and Malang since the main toll road was destroyed by a mud flow. Since May 2006, more than 10,000 people in the Porong subdistrict of Sidoarjo have been displaced by hot mud flowing from a natural gas well that was being drilled by the oil company Lapindo Brantas.
