A shepherd watches his flock close to some pipes that the Indonesian National Oil Co., Pertamina, are having to lay. Their original pipe network having been severely disrupted by the mud flow. Since May 2006, more than 10,000 people in the Porong subdistrict of Sidoarjo have been displaced by hot mud flowing from a natural gas well that was being drilled by the oil company Lapindo Brantas. The torrent of mud - up to 125,000 cubic metres per day - continued to flow three years later.
