55 year old Mohammed Selamat walks through the makeshift house he has constructed for his family of six, which sits on the central reservation of a former toll road beside Besuki village. Since May 2006, more than 10,000 people in the Porong subdistrict of Sidoarjo have been displaced by hot mud flowing from a natural gas well that was being drilled by the oil company Lapindo Brantas. The torrent of mud - up to 125,000 cubic metres per day - continued to flow three years later.
