Torben Godskesen, 31 years old, is station leader at Mestervig where he will be for one year. He was a member of Sirius Patrol, a Danish navy unit which patrols and enforces Danish sovereignty in the Arctic regions of Northern and Eastern Greenland, from 2008 to 2010. Mestersvig is a military outpost with a runaway in the Scoresby Land region of the Northeast Greenland National Park. Originally built in anticipation of mining in the area it has been run by the Danish defence department since 1988. The place is staffed by two men whose duties include maintenance of buildings and the airfield and support of other activities in the area.
