The Hamburger Bahnhof Museum of Contemporary Art opened in 1997 in a former Berlin railway station. This work by Via Lewandowsky of a sitting room cut in half (including the cat) is called Berliner Zimmer (Berlin Room). It is part of the "Mind the Gap" exhibition which "explores interstices and cavities, unresolved conditions and discrepancies" and could possibly be a metaphor for the "Gap" that was created by the separation of East and West Berlin by the Wall..
