Samuel Monga, car mechanic: 'Ten months ago I was in a road accident on the way to Uvira. The lorry I was travelling in lost its balance and we were catapulted from the loading platform. Thirteen were killed and many were injured. The helicopter from the Monuc peacekeepers flew me to hospital. It was my first flight, but unfortunately I couldn't appreciate it. My leg was crushed. I spent two days in rehabilitation. I hope I will still be able to work. Fortunately my family sends me ten dollars from Kinshasa each month. I don't know how I would survive otherwise. I long to see my wife and children again. Since the accident I have only spoken to them on the phone. Unfortunately there's no money for them to come here.'.
