US Army Medic Sgt. Ester, Viper Company 126, 1st Platoon, treats Mohammed, a local driver from Korengal village who was shot in cross-fire at Restrepo Firebase in the restive Korengal Valley. Mohammed was driving on the road close to the firebase when he was stopped and searched by ANA (Afghan National Army) soldiers. AAF (Anti Afghan Forces) then opened fire at them and the Restrepo base. In the ensuing firefight a shot hit his head but did not penetrate the skull and it was unclear if the shot was from coalition or AAF shots. Restrepo, a remote outpost, is known as one of the most violent places in Afghanistan. Located in the Korengal Valley it comes under fire on a daily basis from Anti-Afghan Forces in the local villages and mountains.
