Augustine's son Jeneil eats lunch at a friend's house where they are sometimes able to go and rest for a few hours. Augustine worked as a nurse in a hospital in DR Congo but fled after she was arrested for her involvement in an opposition political party. she has her six year old son Jeneil with her and both are destitute, sleeping in churches, on friends' floors and sometimes outside. Her son has a school place but because she is always sleeping in different places and has no money for bus fares it is sometimes hard to make sure he attends. "My son and I only eat once a day. My church gives me two to five GBP a week and I use that money to buy fruit for my son." Augustine is one of an estimated 300,000 rejected asylum seekers living in the UK.
