A woman checks a species of Leucadendron plant. It is being recuperated at the Millennuim Seed Bank and now only exists here, it is extinct in nature. It is housed in The Wellcome Trust Millennium Building at the Millennium Seed Bank at Wakehurst Place in West Sussex. The building houses facilities for seed-preparation, laboratories and public exhibitions. There is a large storage vault which lies underneath the building. The Millennium Seeds Bank Partnership is coordinated by Kew Gardens and aims to collect seeds from every wild plant in the world to insure against extinction. It reached its target of banking seeds from all of the UK's native plant species as well as banking 10% of the world's wild plant species in 2009, and aims to have 25% by 2020.
