41 year old Sugali Nagamma stands with her daughter and a portrait of her late husband Mr Narayanaswamy Naik at her home in the village of Kapiripalli in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Her husband, a farmer, committed suicide three months ago, after the worst drought this region has experienced in two decades. "That day he was in a heavy depression, he bought a tin of pesticide and started drinking from it. I tried to take it away from him, but he died in front of us." The family have had to borrow money over the last five years due to successive crop failures. Sugali has five children (pictured with her eldest daughter Rathnamma, 22) and has had to take four of them out of school to work in the fields to begin to pay off the debts. "I'm crying inside, I have no support from anyone."
