Materials waiting to be moved offsite by road transport. The 125 year old Forth Rail Bridge spans the river Forth near Edinburgh. Network Rail, the operator of the rail track that leads over the bridge, has spent 10 years and GBP 130 million repainting the 230,000 square metres of steel and 6.5 million rivets on the bridge. The iconic red paint used on the bridge is made to match the red-oxide paint used over 100 years ago. The bridge will now need no further painting for at least 20 years.
