Dead sheep lie on the ground in drought hit Barbayaal Ciyou. According to records, following the last election in 2014, the town of Garadag was home to about 3,000 people, and the district to 12,200, but since the drought began, one thousand of families have come to live in the district, seeking food and water. In Garadag there is a school and a functioning mother and child clinic, with nurses tending to thousands of women and children from the twenty surrounding villages. <br />
