Participants in La Tomatina call for more supplies so they can continue the food fight. The annual event began in the mid 1940s and, although its inspiration is unclear, it has since grown to become known as 'The World's Biggest Food Fight'. 100 metric tonnes, brought in by four lorries, of the fruits are thrown during the event. La Tomatina has grown into an international festival, attracting people from around the world. Over the years, however, its growing popularity has meant greater regulation and it is now limited to 20,000 participants.
