Two Jizo figurines in the Oku-No-in Temple cemetery in Koyasan. These figures are found throughout Japan and are said to protect travellers, children and act as guardians to lost souls. It is common practice to dress them, usually in red, an act that accrues merit in Buddhist cultures. /Felix Features
