Ramatou (not her real name) stands in the doorway of her family home. She was due to be married, but following the intervention of a local judge she is now back with her parents in the village of Maidhani. In Niger over 3/4 of all women are married before they are 18 and has the highest rate of childhood marriage in the world, with most marriages of underage girls being arranged by their parents in return for a dowry payment.
