A woman harvests rice. Unexploded ordnance (UXO) is a constant danger to farmers in Laos. Each year an average of 300 people are killed or injured as a result of UXO. More than two million tonnes of ordnance was dropped over Laos ruring the Second Indo-China War, an estimated 30 per cent of which did not explode on impact. UXO still affects more than 25 per cent of Lao villages
