In a poor suburb of Yangon (Rangoon), families who lost their homes in the cyclone are now staying in the local monastery. A local delicatessan food manufacturer has set up a feeding station here, which feeds several hundred children a day. Such acts of individual altruism have been common in the absence of an organised government response. Cyclone Nargis hit Burma on 02/05/2008.
