The Cinema Impero building on Harnet Avenue in Asmara. It was designed by architect Mario Messina and built in 1937. The city is a showcase of 1930s Italian Art Deco architecture that was initially brought to the region by colonial-era Italians, the style continued to flourish into the 1960s as local architects furthered the distinctive designs.
