Running for cover, UN Drive. Stray bullets are part of daily life in Monrovia. On some streets and intersections you just have to run. .The ongoing conflict in Libera intensified in March 2003 when rebels opposed to the government of Charles Taylor gained territory across much of the country, advancing on the capital city Monrovia. In August 2003 Taylor agreed to hand over power to an interim government and went into exile in Nigeria, which led to the signing of a peace agreement. .Charles Taylor was indicted for war crimes by a UN court in Sierra Leone, and is accused of fuelling conflict in Sierra Leone as well as neighbouring Guinea and Ivory Coast.
