UNICEF assisted with the establishment of the centre, and provides medical treatment, washing facilities and clean needles to addicts young and old. The centre also provides STD and HIV testing, and provides detox therapy alongside recreational activities. The ralationship between young addicts and older users is often highly controversial. 'Coupling' often occurs, where an older addict will provide a younger boy with heroin, in return for the money the younger boy brings in through begging. The relationships often become sexual, and boys are often 'dumped' after a few months and left to fend for themselves, once the older addict has found another boy....
