Beef cattle await one of their four daily feeds at a feedyard in Mead Kansas. A feedyard is part of the factory farming process where animals are fattened up prior to slaughter. They are mostly fed on corn or corn dervived products gaining between 2.5 and 4.5 pounds per day. 25% of all American beef is produced in Kansas.
