To compound the these problems is the increasing threats of Islamic extremist groups, that have banned the cinema and threatened the producers especially in the Pashto Film Industry, based in Peshawar.  ..The Pakistan Film Industry is on the brink of extinction as the market for Punjabi, Urdu and Pashto Cinema has dwindled in recent years due to growing accessibility to Hollywood and Bollywood films via cable TV.
