On a rooftop, young people practice dancing near the Smokey Mountains rubbish dump in the Vitas slum. Many people here live from collecting garbage such as used plastic bottles and scrap metal for recycling. The neighbourhood consists of 27 blocks (like this one) only separated by narrow streets. Each block has 4 floors and 88 equal sized apartments of only 18m2 each. According to the residents here, approximately six people live in each of these apartments.
