Burma: All That They Could Carry by Sanjit Das

When Cyclone Nargis hit the Irrawaddy Delta on 02/05/2008, all 54 year old Khin Thaung brought with him was this statue of Buddha. When Khin began his career as a carpenter at the age of 15, this box was the first thing he made. "It's because of Buddha's blessings that my family survived the cyclone." Khin lives alongside other refugees from the 7th ward, Hlaingthaya township in Rangoon (Yangon), in the Shwe Than Lwin shopping complex, which is under construction and has acted as a small refugee centre.
